Tropic City

Charoenkrung Road's colourful cocktail bar dedicated to all things tropical.

Publish Date: 17 October 2019

Get a true taste of the tropics at this bright and bustling cocktail bar, which made its debut on the Asia’s 50 Best Bars list for 2019.

The floral murals and colourful Portuguese tiles are not the only things that’ll make your eyes pop; the rum-heavy drink selection is also an exercise in both style and substance. It’s all backed up by a cool-kid soundtrack of trap and electro-house.

Even if you don’t fancy the trek to Charoenkrung, you can find exclusive concoctions from Tropic City’s founders Sebastian de La Cruz and Philip Stefanescu on the menu at Siam@Siam Bangkok. Read our interview with them here.

How to get there: From S@S Bangkok, your best bet is to catch a taxi. The ride should cost no more than THB100 and take about 15 minutes. Alternatively, catch the BTS at National Stadium station to Saphan Taksin, after changing at Siam, and explore the historical Charoenkrung neighbourhood. A single-journey pass will cost THB40. Tropic City is about 19 minutes' walk from Saphan Taksin station. From there, you can also take an Orange Flag Boat (THB15) along the Chao Phraya River to Si Phraya Pier, and walk another 4 minutes.
