Where to head for quality coffee, breakfast favourites and all-day hangs, because why not?

Feeling worse for wear after a big night out and craving some coffee? Spent a little too much time soaking up the sun and just want somewhere cosy to kick back in air-con cool and chow down on comforting breakfast staples? You’re in luck. Here, we’ve gathered some some of our favourite cafes around Pattaya at which we could happily spend pretty much all day.

A La Campagne

A La Campagne

French in name and French in vibe, A La Campagne’s lush, fairy light-strewn grounds are a popular wedding destination for locals, but this is way more than just a rusticated photo opportunity. Visit hungry and you’ll find a range of venues serving both Thai and European fare, as well as some scrumptious pastries. Relax in an antiquated atmosphere at Tea Factory where you’ll find delicious scones, both hot and cold-brew tea and other English specialties. If Thai is more your thing, Somtum Villa hits the spot with its spread of papaya salads and grilled chicken or southern-style curry with kanomjeen (fermented rice noodles). Cool points: the restaurants here make use of lots of produce grown on-site. For a spot of shopping, you can stroll by Petit Mache, which stocks eye-catching ceramic tableware and handcrafted utensils. If you’re travelling with kids, The Farm offers the chance for little ones to get hands-on with gardening and collecting fresh eggs from the chicken coop. They can also feed the ponies and kids (that’s a baby goat). Those a little older can partake in fun workshops like learning how to make kombucha (a fermented form of tea with all sorts of health benefits).

Baba Eating House

This little whitewashed cafe brings a taste of Melbourne-style brunch culture to its tucked-away corner of Pattaya. Start your day right with a generously portioned avocado toast with poached egg, a flaky sausage roll, oats with seasonal fruit or moist French toast with local pineapple. Baba has also built a following for its extensive vegan and vegetarian menu that covers everything from cakes to burgers. Another of our veggie-friendly picks is the quinoa with prawns. The coffee is some of the best (and strongest) in town.

Blue Tang

This crisp blue-and-white cafe puts the emphasis on organic coffee. The signature blend pairs beans sourced from Chiang Rai, in the north of Thailand, and Indonesia’s Sumatra island for a brew that packs just a hint of citrus. Fill up for the big day ahead with a breakfast-leaning menu that’s big on paninis—choose from tuna, spinach or chicken pesto fillings. More hydration can be found in the delightful lychee soda, or treat yourself to a mint-flavoured milk topped with a drizzle of chocolate sauce.

Dripoly

Dripoly

Tucked in Pattaya’s one and only health-focused community mall, The Commons, this sleek cafe pumps out a bunch of creative coffee drinks to go with solid savoury dishes. The polygon-shaped venue stands out for its monochrome palette topped off with a mirror-tiled coffee counter. Besides eye-catching caffeinated concoctions like the mandarin orange Americano, they do a mean range of cold-pressed juices. For the starving, we recommend the grilled sea bass in lime sauce or the green curry rice with fried gourami. Watching your waistline? Opt for a superfood-laden salad instead.

Passion Kaffe

This is the kind of spot you could laze all afternoon. You certainly can’t miss the cafe, thanks to the colourful “Baby Rabbit” mural by beloved Thai graffiti artist Alex Face that lines one its walls. All-day brunch is the name of the game, here. Lean back on the fluffy pillows in the glorious sunshine that streams in through glasshouse-like windows and order up a big brekkie pan of scrambled eggs, bacon, roast tomatoes and toast or the sweet tooth-pleasing sweet potato waffles with ice cream and homemade berry coulis. The Aussie-roasted coffee is also worth your while.

Skoop

Skoop Beach Cafe

Colourful ice cream and decadent waffles are the name of the game at this photogenic kiosk on Na Jomthien Beach. Claim yourself a bean bag or nautical-striped deck chair and soak up the breezy beach-shack vibes with a scoop or three in one of their cutely decorated waffle cones. For pure Instagram gold, however, you can’t go past one of the Coco Pops ice cream sandwiches. Yum! Drinks-wise, it’s tough to choose between the shakes and sodas, but for something with a local twist we suggest the Thai tea float. If you’re sticking around the beach for the day, your savoury cravings can be fulfilled through comforting fare like mac and cheese, cheesy bacon fries and a variety of eggy dishes.

Tree Tales

Tree Tales

Teeming with greenery, this cafe on Naklua Road offers one of the most wholesome ways to kick off your day. The menu will excite health fanatics and dessert lovers alike, and comes packed with plenty of vegetarian options. Homegrown ingredients from the veggie patch like rocket, spinach and basil feature in omelettes, sandwiches and pastas, but the star of the show is what’s probably fluffiest souffle pancakes in town! Start your morning with a granola fruit bowl or Eggs Benny, to go with fresh-pressed juices such as the Green Potion (spinach, green apple, fennel and mandarin orange). The tasty burgers here come with a green twist—eye-catching buns coloured with basil, spinach and rosemary. Save room for sinful desserts like the Aussie lamingtons, banana tartin or burnt coconut cake.
